Liquid Gold
Sometimes the best things in life are the unexpected. One hot, sultry afternoon in the Pilbara, Damon drove hundreds of kilometres to a spectacular gorge he had noted on his map. Arriving as the sun was setting, Damon raced into the gorge with his camera hoping to capture the cliffs lit by the last red rays of the sun. After fording the stream and climbing to a vantage point he found that the cliffs were already in half shade. His quest now in tatters, Damon made his way down and back across the stream. He turned to have one final look at the cliffs and was struck by the unexpected new vision now appearing in the water before him. The last rays of the sun were illuminating the top of the cliffs and this was in turn reflecting down to the pools in the valley floor. Damon managed to set up his camera and take a time exposure in the few minutes before the vision disappeared. A good example of turning defeat into success or maybe water into gold.
