Main Range
The main range of the Snowy Mountains is rarely seen from such a perspective as this. By car or by foot there is no way to get a proper view that shows the extent of the tallest mountain range in Australia. But Damon's love of flying allowed him to visualise and capture this scene. Taking off from Khanchoban late one winter's day, Damon flew backwards and forwards along the western face of the mountains as the sun lowered into the western sky. As the afternoon became colder, a blanket of cloud formed below the higher peaks, adding another element to an already spectacular scene. This photograph shows Watsons Crags in the middle distance and the north western slopes of Mt Townsend on the right.
